What We Ate:
Food of the Day: c(h)evapi
Breakfast: nothing
Lunch: one kilo of meat and cheese burek
Dinner: rice and vegetables with poached eggs
Olive count: 2040
Word of the Day: "Dubro jutro" click to play audio clip means "good morning" in Bosnian. We pick this word because it was the one we were least likely to hear today. None of us left the apartment until after noon.
Tech Fact of the Day: Yugo-nostalgia. Some Bosnians (or other ex-Yugoslavians) have very fond memories of the Yugoslav state. Since the demise of the old Yugoslavia, Sarajevans have endured war, a siege, the collapse of their economy, and the end to any semblance of the ethnic harmony for which their city was famous. Compared to these misfortunes, the repression of Yugoslavia's Communist regime seems inconsequential or is forgotten altogether. The Yugo-nostalgics instead recall the relative prosperity, and, simply, the peacefulness of the old days.
